What is hexadecimal color coding?

Surely you are wondering: “Does this strange combination of letters and numbers have any meaning?” Well, the answer is “Yes” and this is how it works .

Computer screens get the colors by mixing three basic colors (red, green and blue). Each color supports 256 intensity levels, which makes a total of 256 x 256 x 256 = 16,777,216 different colors. To refer to a specific color, simply indicate the intensities of each of the three basic colors.

HTML code format:

Each HTML code includes the “#” symbol and 6 letters or numbers. These numbers are expressed in the hexadecimal numbering system. For example “FF” in hexadecimal represents the number 255 in Decimal.

Meaning of the symbols:

Meaning of the symbols: The first two symbols of the HTML color code represent the intensity of the red color. 00 is the least intense and FF is the most intense. The third and fourth numbers represent the intensity of green and the fifth and sixth represent the intensity of blue. Thus, with this combination of the intensity of red, green and blue we can mix any color we want from the heart;)

Color-hex gives information about colors including color models (RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK), Triadic colors, monochromatic colors and analogous colors calculated in color page. Color-hex.com also generates a simple css code for the selected color. Html element samples are also shown below the color detail page. Simply type the 6 digit color code in the box above and hit enter.
